Sioux Technologies, world-renowned tech accelerator, follows Intel: Minister of Economic Affairs Sven Schulze welcomes another high-tech company to Saxony-Anhalt

Sioux Technologies, an international research and development company founded in 1996 in Eindhoven in the Netherlands, has announced an ambitious project and its plans for Saxony-Anhalt at the invitation of the Minister of Economic Affairs Sven Schulze, who was first in contact with the company in March 2023.

With its workforce of around 1,100 employees, Sioux Technologies develops strategic high-tech solutions for international technology firms in a wide variety of markets, including semiconductors, laboratory and medical technology, mechatronics, imaging, mobility and clean energy. The company intends to invest around 20 million euros in a research and development center In Barleben in Saxony-Anhalt and to create about three hundred permanent, highly skilled jobs in the years to come. The company needs micro-mechanical and mechatronics engineers, software developers, physicists and engineers in various other disciplines and it has already begun the recruitment process.

Leon Giesen, CEO of Sioux Technologies, had this to say: “We are proud to be one of the first businesses to move into the Intel tech environment in Saxony-Anhalt. Our plans are to create more than 300 jobs in Barleben over the next few years. We are grateful to the government and the universities in the region for their support.”

“The arrival of Sioux Technologies is a major success for Saxony-Anhalt. It confirms that we are on the right path with the creation of a business ecosystem around Intel. At the same time, Sioux’s arrival is proof that we are succeeding in bringing premium jobs in research and development to our state,” said Minister of Economic Affairs Sven Schulze.

The company is currently making use of interim premises in the Ostfalen Technology Park, but work on its new building nearby, which will cover an area of roughly five thousand square meters and consist of high-quality offices, workshops and clean rooms, is planned to start in the first quarter of 2024. The facility should be up and running by the first quarter of 2025.

The Mayor of Barleben, Frank Nase, said: “In choosing Barleben as its new home, Sioux is yet another high-tech company to move into the Ostfalen Technology Park. Alongside the Center for Method Development (CMD) and the Institute for Competence in AutoMobility – IKAM GmbH of the University of Magdeburg, it is another research facility in our region. The establishment of Sioux Technologies here will turn the Ostfalen Technology Park in the heart of Barleben into a nucleus of genuine inventiveness and innovation that is of great importance to our region. The resulting high-end value chains will lead out into the local area, the region and the rest of the world.”

Dr. Robert Franke, Managing Director of the Investment and Marketing Corporation Saxony-Anhalt (IMG), which is continuing to actively support the company’s move to Saxony-Anhalt, said: “Sioux Technologies develops innovative solutions for companies in numerous industries, such as microelectronics, automotive and medical technology. In this environment, the company is creating highly skilled jobs and is therefore making a major contribution to the further growth of Saxony-Anhalt as a high-tech hub.”

Customers of Sioux Technologies, which is a privately owned company, include global market leaders such as ASML, ZEISS, ASMPT, Besi, NXP, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Philips Healthcare and Siemens. Together with its customers, the company is driving technological development in the semiconductor market, where Intel, TSMC, Infineon and Samsung are among the main players.
