High-Tech Park

Welcome to Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt.
Here Intel® invests.

US chip manufacturer and industry giant Intel® is set to invest in the construction of two state-of-the-art semiconductor factories in Magdeburg. At 33 billion euros, this is the biggest direct investment ever to be made by a foreign company in Germany, creating several thousand jobs for the Magdeburg region – both in the high-tech sector itself and among suppliers. Construction is scheduled to start in 2024.

In addition to the Intel® project, a new industrial and commercial estate with outreach beyond the region is being built in southwest Magdeburg on a total gross surface area of 1,100 hectares: the High-Tech Park

The plot as a whole consists of the “Eulenberg” area (city of Magdeburg) – here it was possible to get Intel® on board as a cornerstone investor – and the High-Tech Park (municipalities of Sülzetal and Wanzleben-Börde). The High-Tech Park under construction in the municipality of Sülzetal, district of Langenweddingen, is to become an industrial and commercial site with outreach beyond the region. Set in an easily accessible location near the main road and motorway as well as being close to the city, the site meets all the requirements of a modern and future-oriented industrial base. The spaces on offer are primarily aimed at companies in the semiconductor sector and other high-tech industries, as well as the relevant suppliers.

Study & Research

Intel® gives Magdeburg a leading edge

Groundbreaking change is imminent at the heart of the innovative state of Saxony-Anhalt: semiconductor industry giant Intel® is set to locate here. This move not only brings a titan of the industry into the region, it also lays the foundations for a whole new era of progress in science, research, development, education and technology.

Intel®’s presence will enhance the region’s already impressive range of research institutes, universities, colleges and tech companies – a unique ecosystem that provides the perfect breeding ground for innovation and creative collaboration.

One especially exciting development is the creation of a new degree program at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg: “Advanced Semiconductor and Nanotechnology”. This course will give future specialists the opportunity to acquire the required skills from experts and practitioners so as to be able to meet the challenges of modern technology. Training these skilled specialists will not only secure the future of the Saxony-Anhalt region, it will contribute to the global technology landscape, too. The combination of education, research and industry creates an ecosystem that consistently redefines the limits of what is possible, paving the way for groundbreaking discoveries.
