Invitation to Press Breakfast Event // transport logistic 2019
Saxony-Anhalt brings dynamism to the mobility of the future
Efficient and innovative – as a location for logistics, Saxony-Anhalt is to present its expertise in the development of intelligent transport and traffic systems at the transport logistic trade fair in Munich.
From 4th to 7th June 2019 the logistics location of Saxony-Anhalt will be presenting itself at transport logistic Munich. The leading international trade fair for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management is an event that brings together the key international market leaders from the transport and logistics sector every two years. Once again, the number of exhibitors has risen by nine percent to 2,360, and the international share by three percent to 56 percent.
The seven Saxony-Anhalt exhibitors at the shared stand for the federal state (Hall B3 / Stand 214), the 22 exhibitors at the stand of the Netzwerk Logistik Mitteldeutschland (Hall B5.119 / Stand 218) as well as other individual exhibitors will present their capabilities and innovative solutions, and therefore demonstrate the considerable potential and dynamics of the sector for logistics and transport services in Saxony-Anhalt and in Central Germany. In Saxony-Anhalt, some 61,000 employees, approximately 3,000 of whom work in logistics companies, shift around 370 million tons of goods, products and raw materials annually. Alone, they generate an annual turnover of some 2.8 billion Euros.
The excellent transport network and excellently positioned research landscape provide the best conditions for this. Roads, railways, waterways and airways are uniquely interlinked in Saxony-Anhalt. In a close cooperation between science and industry, not only are modern logistics processes and systems designed and tested here, but also new forms of the mobility of tomorrow. And in the light of the growing volume of traffic and the need to protect the climate and the environment, these are becoming increasingly necessary. Whether it is electric mobility, alternative forms of propulsion, intelligent networking, autonomous driving, digital mobility services in urban areas or smart transport and logistics solutions for passenger and goods traffic – Saxony-Anhalt is playing a pioneering role in many areas of the New Mobility. By 2030, the German federal government and the federal state government intend to invest a further two billion euros in a modern, intelligent and ecological transport infrastructure.
Industrial electromobility in Saxony-Anhalt is also set to pick up speed with the establishment of the globally leading battery manufacturer Farasis Energy Inc. in the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld in Bitterfeld-Wolfen. There, the US company is to manufacture batteries for electric vehicles through its newly founded subsidiary, Farasis Energy Europe GmbH.
