Minister of Economics meets STIMULATE startups

On October 25, 2022, Mr. Sven Schulze and Ms. Stefanie Pötzsch, Minister and State Secretary for Economy, Tourism, Agriculture and Forestry of Saxony-Anhalt, respectively, visited the research campus STIMULATE. The goal was to give the minister and the state secretary an overview of the economic activities and successes at the research campus as well as its startup scene.

After the spokesman of the research campus, Prof. Georg Rose, presented the successful public-private cooperation in STIMULATE, the enormous potential of the starting large-scale project transPORT, was presented, which offers outstanding opportunities especially for local startups as well as small and medium-sized enterprises. This was followed by an intensive exchange with the startups of the research campus.

Starting up a company, especially in the medical technology sector, poses special challenges. The development of a medical device demonstrator to a medical device ready for approval and finally the market access is a critical path in terms of time and finances, which can only be mastered with a lot of entrepreneurial spirit and a supportive network. In particular, in the market segment of large imaging devices, the high approval criteria for medical devices come into play, accompanied by initial, often very high, necessary investments. The managing directors of three startups of the research campus STIMULATE reported on these specific challenges to the Minister of Economics: Dr. Enrico Pannicke (mediMESH GmbH), Dr. Stefan Röll (Neoscan Solutions GmbH), Dr. Thomas Hoffmann (RAYDIAX GmbH).

The startups granted the Minister of Economics and the State Secretary exclusive insights into their development and production work as well as into their corporate strategy.
