Circular Economy

Back to the start

No more: our waste industry is developing into a circular economy. The industry has become an important sector of the economy with specialised companies offering modern processes and clean technologies for the removal of waste. The aim is a complete return of all recyclable raw materials – and thus waste-free production. Depositing problematic materials and cleaning liquids and gases are also part of the leading Cleantech market, the circular economy.

Here, companies from Saxony-Anhalt are making use of their many years of experience. In the post-Wall period, many contaminated sites had to be removed. In 1990, a beacon, MUEG Mitteldeutsche Umwelt- und Entsorgungs GmbH, was founded. It specialises in the disposal of contaminated surfaces and is the European market leader in the disposal of acid tar.

From the line to the circle

Novelis also offers special solutions within the circular economy. With its new, world’s largest aluminium recycling centre, the manufacturer of aluminium rolled products has converted its linear business model into a circular model. Merseburg-based MOL Katalysatortechnik GmbH successfully established itself on the market with its non-biocide water cleaning process. Other important companies are Stork Umweltdienste GmbH in Magdeburg and Multiport Recycling GmbH in Bernburg, which reconditions plastic waste and manufactures new base materials from it.

Entrepreneurs also find important networks in the shape of Entsorgergemeinschaft Sachsen-Anhalt e.V, the Fördergemeinschaft Kreislaufwirtschaft and the Cluster Kreislauf- und Ressourcenwirtschaft.
