11th Advanced Automotive Battery Conference

Electricity is one of the, if not the, vehicle fuel of the future. If the petrol of tomorrow is, however, electricity, this has massive effects on the validity of traditional business models of companies in diverse industries. Similarly, previously unforeseen promising development and growth potential is being opened up. Electromobility must therefore be right at the top of the strategy agenda. Saxony-Anhalt and the Investment and Marketing Corporation Saxony-Anhalt (IMG) have identified that the battery is the key to electromobility and will introduce themselves at the 11th AABC conference in Pasadena/USA from 24.01 until 28.01.2011. (stand number 419).

Saxony-Anhalt is one of the leading regions in the field of renewable energies - 40% of the energy required in the country comes from regenerative energies. This is exactly where electromobility is used, for example the intelligent use of batteries in electric vehicles as a temporary storage system. Saxony-Anhalt has been researching the car of the future for some time now. The "Institute for Competence in AutoMobility" (IKAM) was opened in 2009 and facilitates the cooperation between industry and future. The Harz.EE mobility project is currently investigating how renewable energies which have been regionally generated can be optimally used for electrically operated vehicles and integrated into the smart grid while being monitored. Moreover, the universities and technical colleges of the state, such as the Otto von Guericke University of Magdeburg the Martin Luther University Halle/Salle and the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences have been dealing also be dealing with this topic.

The main areas of the IMG at the AABC are addressing battery manufacturers, the manufacturers of battery components and the supplier industry. These should be informed about the advantages and possibilities of the location. Audi AG, BASF SE, BMW AG, Mitsubishi Corporation, Robert Bosch GmbH, SGL Carbon GmbH, UBE Europe GmbH, Porsche, Volkswagen AG, ZSW and the Universities of Duisburg-Essen and Münster will exhibit at the AABC.
