First-class Hotel in Historic Theatre

A jewel is concealed behind the grey nondescript façade located at Marienring in Naumburg (on the Saale River). The building in Late Classicism architectural style was erected in 1881 as the “Reichskrone” Hotel and Theatre (the Imperial Crown), and was the cultural centre of the city at that time. Traces of this era can still be found today. A hall renowned for its special beauty – a uniquely preserved Classicism-Etruscan ornamental painting can be found on the ceiling – is concealed in the former City of Naumburg theatre. It was concealed for decades under a suspended ceiling panel. Now this jewel is to shine once again.

The acquisition of the property, in the immediate vicinity of the historic inner city, would not only provide the opportunity to operate an urgently needed and exceptionally beautiful events hall with space for 500 guests. The reopening of the hotel would be an asset for the entire region and would not only satisfy the constantly increasing demands in the conference and convention business. According to the estimate of the hotel development office AB Raymann GmbH (Berlin), which dealt with the on-site circumstances on behalf of the Investment and Marketing Corporation Saxony-Anhalt (IMG), the combination of most modern theatre and event technology in an historic ambience with a hotel operation corresponding to the international standard would be unique in the Saale-Unstrut wine-growing region.

The hotel “Reichskrone”, once erected for Imperial Countess von Hoffmannsegg, encompasses a total area of slightly more than 2,800 square metres. In addition to the listed main building, this includes three extensions from the past decades.

The property is suitable for an international operator or a hotel chain which operates high-quality conference and spa sectors in the four-star segment. That is why the hotel development experts also recommend a small swimming pool, whirlpool and a sauna which can be used by daily visitors. The prospect of success in the idyllically situated cathedral city cannot be dismissed, because a high-quality conference hotel with between 120 and 150 rooms is not currently available in Naumburg and the adjacent region. Disadvantage: the hotel must be rebuilt and the extensions demolished in order to also accommodate the latest requirements regarding fire prevention technology and hotel logistics.

The City of Naumburg is rich in culture and places of interest, and already a popular travel destination today. Not only because of the famous Naumburg Cathedral with cathedral treasure and vault: the medieval Old Town only a few minutes away from the hotel, the vineyards of the Saale-Unstrut wine-growing region with the associated wine taverns and the Saale-Unstrut-Triasland Nature Park are also among the tourist magnets.

Centrally located and accessible via the A 9 motorway junction at Osterfeld, the City of Naumburg lies at an intersection of three federal highways. Federal highway B 87 leads from Weimar to Leipzig, the B 88 to Jena and the B 180 leads from Querfurt to Zeitz. The Berlin-Schönefeld International Airport can be reached in 110 minutes; the Leipzig-Halle Airport in only 30 minutes. Guests arrive by railway in Naumburg with regional railway lines operating on an hourly basis as well as Intercity Express trains on the Hamburg-Berlin-Munich route. The IC route operating between Cologne and Stralsund also stops in Naumburg.
