Urwahn goes on a regional growth course with fresh investment

Secretly and quietly, the two founders Sebastian Meinecke and Ramon Thomas mastered a decisive milestone for us at the end of last year. A select group of top-class business angels invested a seven-figure sum in Urwahn to give the company wings in all areas!

Led by the two lead investors Andreas Berkau and Arne Briest, they were able to financially strengthen the board around Urwahn and bring in concentrated expertise for the long term. Andreas Berkau is considered a pioneer in 3D printing technology and has very extensive industry experience in this disruptive environment. With success, as Andreas Berkau sold his company citim GmbH together with its shareholders to our current partner Oerlikon about five years ago. Arne Briest has spent most of his time in Silicon Valley and feels at home in the biotech and medtech industry. In the past, he has led numerous companies and has a track record of exits.

Urwahn missions 2022 - Progress at warp speed

With the newly formed company and investments, they are now finally switching to warp speed. As the Urwahn adventure is progressing rapidly, the technological pioneers brought several creative Urwahnauts on board at the beginning of the year and qualitatively increased the marketing, R&D and production departments. But growth requires sufficient resources, which is why the manufactory from Magdeburg has wisely doubled production capacity at its own site. They have six new production partners in the region at their side. Ergo, even more Urwahn (e-)bikes can poach through the urban and green thicket in the future.

Despite scaling, the dynamic team continues to focus on the needs of customers and see themselves as a disruptive manufacturer with a penchant for ultra-individualization. True to their motto of "class not mass", they are now also taking their custom consulting service to the next level, allowing prospective customers to immerse themselves even more in the urwahn cosmos in the future.

Last year, the company grew to over 35 urwahn partners in the DACH region. The icing on the cake is the new showroom they have built at their headquarters in Magdeburg. Here, they are now presenting their innovative portfolio and also boast an individual size and digital configurator. So, nothing stands in the way of an extensive test ride on one of the dream bikes including a personal tour of the attached manufactory.

Last year, Urwahn set important accents in the direction of Green Mobility, as they were awarded the prestigious “Green Product Award” and most recently the “German Sustainability Award 2022”. A huge motivational boost for the entire Urwahn team to continue driving the change in environmental awareness. They want to actively change society to the innovative Urwahn (e-)bikes and prove once again that growth and sustainability can form a symbiosis.
