Porsche comes to Saxony-Anhalt / Willingmann: “Major gain for Halle”

New car body plant for more than EUR 100 million / 100 new jobs

Porsche and Schuler AG will set up a joint pressing plant in Halle (Saale). This was announced today by the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer and the forming specialist from Göppingen after successful negotiations, which included the significant participation of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. As well as Saxony-Anhalt, several other federal states had competed for the settlement.

Car body parts are to manufactured on a 13 hectare area in the “Star Park Halle” from 2021. According to their own statements, the companies are investing more than EUR 100 million and want to create 100 new jobs in the first stage of development. The Ministry of Economic Affairs is funding the settlement with EUR 7.5 million from the State-Region Joint Agreement “Improvement of Regional Economic Structure” (GRW). The start of construction is planned for the second half of 2019.

Saxony-Anhalt’s Economics Minister Prof Armin Willingmann said: “Porsche and Schuler are coming to Saxony-Anhalt – a major success for us. Our efforts have paid off. We vigorously presented the case for Halle as a location to Porsche and Schuler – with success. The settlement of the pressing plant is a major gain for the city and for the automotive location of Saxony-Anhalt as a whole. Additionally, it shows how competitive and attractive Saxony-Anhalt is as a business location for large international groups as well.”
