CHEFS CULINAR invests 21.4 million euros in Zorbau

Ministry of Economy, Science and Digitalisation supports new facility with 2.05 million euros

The food wholesaler CHEFS CULINAR is expanding its site in the Lützen district of Zorbau (Burgenlandkreis): an additional facility with a deep-freeze warehouse and office area is expected to be built in the industrial park there by October 2022.The investment of around 21.4 million euros is being subsidized by the Ministry of Economy to the tune of 2.05 million. 40 new jobs will be created.

Founded in 1995, CHEFS CULINAR Ost GmbH & Co. KG supplies food to restaurants and canteen kitchens such as hospitals and nursing homes in Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony and Thuringia as well as parts of Brandenburg and the Czech Republic from its base in Zorbau. The construction of the additional deep-freeze warehouse is intended to meet the increased demand in this product group. An important plus point for the planned expansion in the Zorbau industrial park is also its location at the intersection of two important traffic axes, the A9 and the B91.

"The needs of our customers in hospitals, care facilities, hotels and the hospitality industry are changing. At the same time, we have always succeeded in significantly increasing our sales over the past years. This will also be the case after Corona," said Axel Busch, branch manager responsible for sales at CHEFS CULINAR. Dirk Jerxsen, Branch Manager Operations, added: "That's why it's necessary to invest in our future and build a new deep-freeze warehouse. Work has already started at our site. As a family-run, medium-sized company, it is also obvious for us not only to create qualified jobs, but also to pay the business tax locally to support Zorbau and our neighborhood."
