Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG cooperates with Chinese Shenzhen Airport Group


The Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG and the Shenzhen Airport (Group) Company Limited have agreed upon a strategic cooperation for the Leipzig/Halle location and the Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport. An appropriate agreement was signed within the scope of the leading Chinese transport fair, the “China (Shenzhen) International Logistics and Transportation Fair”. This was disclosed by the Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG in Leipzig. The agreement is primarily directed at the air freight sector. According to the announcement, it includes the intended cooperation in the field of market processing and customer acquisition as well as an exchange of information and personnel.According to Felix Zimmermann, spokesman for the Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG, this is the first intercontinental cooperation agreed upon by the Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG.

The Shenzhen Airport (Group) Company Limited is a listed, state-owned company with registered office in Shenzhen, China. The airport has emerged as the fourth largest airport on the Chinese mainland with 24,486,406 million passengers, 202,627 takeoffs and landings as well as 605,469 tonnes of air freight in 2009.

The Leipzig/Halle Airport is a subsidiary of the Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG, to which, among others, the Dresden Airport also belongs. More than 2.42 million air passengers and 523,083 tonnes of air freight were registered in 2009. According to their own statements, Leipzig/Halle is thereby the third largest freight airport in Germany.
