From Dessau-Roßlau out into the world

The location on the high banks of the Elbe River can look back on a nearly 100-year tradition. The Deutsche Hydrierwerke Rodleben (DHW – German Hydrogenation Works Rodleben) was founded here as early as 1916, originally in order be able to replace expensive raw materials with chemical surrogates. The industrial harbour was also laid out in 1935 in order to deliver the products from the neighbouring DHW safely and cost-effectively via ship. The challenges of the future will be met with the expansion into a Trimodal Logistics Centre at the location.

The area is located in the Roßlau district about 6 kilometres to the north of the Dessau city centre.

Trimodal into the future

Two commercial zones, up to now functioning independently of each other, are located in the immediate vicinity of the approx. 80-hectare large logistics centre. These will be consolidated into a first-class, expanded trimodal logistics centre in the course of location’s improved efficiency. The necessity of the planned expansion ensues among other things from a forecast by the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (BMVBS). Consequently, the already very dense traffic of merchandise and goods on the German traffic arteries will double once again by 2050. The City of Dessau-Roßlau intends to respond to the anticipated commercial traffic flows with the quantitative and qualitative improvement of the transport modes water, road and rail, and to make the region fit for the future in terms of traffic. The location shall become one of the most attractive places of transhipment for merchandise and goods in Central Germany with the new Trimodal Logistics Centre.

The tradition-steeped and worldwide active enterprises Deutsche Hydrierwerke GmbH Rodleben (DHW) and the Industriehafen Roßlau GmbH (Roßlau Industrial Harbour) – the most important harbour in the State of Saxony-Anhalt and only public inland harbour on the right banks of the upper Elbe River – currently dominate at this location. Other enterprises from the main construction and secondary construction sector, small and medium-size enterprises with harbour-related activity such as boatbuilding, ready-mixed concrete, agricultural trade and recycling have already established themselves here.

The Trimodal Logistics Centre offers optimal conditions for business settlements with special demand for a more versatile and efficient logistics infrastructure. All in all, approx. 25 hectares in area sizes ranging from 1,000 m² to 150,000 m² are immediately available. In addition to a legally valid land utilisation plan, building regulations exist in accordance with § 34 BauGB (Federal Building Code).
