Brussels: State Secretary Schubert will open the Solar Conference

Invitation to the Media:

Brussels: State Secretary Schubert will open the Conference on the future of the solar industry in Europe

Within a very short time, the solar industry has developed into a central driver of growth in the economy in Saxony-Anhalt. The dynamic expansion of the use of photovoltaic systems is a success story. Known as the "Solar Valley,” it is the fastest growing industrial region in central Europe with a focus on the solar industry and suppliers. Around 3,600 jobs have been created in recent years in the area. Thus Bitterfeld-Wolfen hosts an aggregated cluster of technologies for thin film production. The course for further growth is set: Currently, about 110 ha of industrial greenfields will be prepared.

Against this background, next Monday, in the Representation of Saxony-Anhalt in Brussels, the State Secretary of the Ministry for Economics, Detlef Schubert, will open the event “State and prospects of the solar industry in Europe - Opportunities for the regions”. What are the prospects for the industry? What are the possibilities of a Europe-wide cooperation? How is the waste management issue resolved? These and other questions will be discussed. Saxony-Anhalt MEP Dr. Horst Reinhardt will explain the view of the European Parliament and the current legislative process. Attendees will include representatives of the European Commission, the European Solar Association EPIA, the CSP Halle Fraunhofer Institute, and the Spanish partner region of Valencia. As representative of the Investment and Marketing Corporation the CEO Dr. Carlhans Uhle will present the solar location "Solar Valley”, and assess the current position of the Premium Solar Valley Clusters in the international competition.
