New Mobility

> The Hydrogen Factory of the Future. They are establishing a design for the distributed and modular production and distribution of green hydrogen for industry, business and transportation throughout the value chain with their hydrogen factory of the future. “Electricity sourced from sun and wind is used to split water into hydrogen and oxygen in a process called electrolysis.

> Production starts in europe’s first gigafactory for energy storage systems. Semi-automated production begins today in Europe’s first gigafactory for commercial battery storage systems, located in Wittenberg, Germany. Innovations in Tesvolt’s production process have enabled extremely flexible and efficient series manufacturing of its lithium-ion storage systems for industry and commerce.

Chemicals

> Go-ahead for electrolysis test platform ELP and scaling platform Hy2Chem in Leuna. Hydrogen is regarded as the energy source of the future – and rightly so, if it is »green« and is produced from water using electricity generated from renewable energies. With the ELP electrolysis test platform at the Leuna chemical site, Saxony-Anhalt and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft are setting new standards. 

Digitization

> State Secretary Thomas Wünsch presents GRW grant in Kabelsketal. The state of Saxony-Anhalt is supporting our investment in expanding our site to the tune of several million euros. The funding comes from the Joint Task for the Improvement of Regional Economic Structures (GRW). State Secretary Thomas Wünsch presented the grant to managing director Mathias Dögel.

> Sites decision: Meyer Burger wants to establish its own production of solar cells and solar modules in Saxony-Anhalt and Saxony. Meyer Burger will use its lat­est pro­duc­tion equip­ment there to man­u­fac­ture highly ef­fi­cient solar cells using the pro­pri­etary het­ero­junc­tion tech­nol­ogy.

> Q CELLS to invest 125 million euros into its German R&D Headquarters over next three years. Neben jährlichen Ausgaben von rund 35 Mio. Euro fließen zusätzliche Investitionen von mehr als 20 Mio. Euro in die Entwicklung der nächsten Generation der Q.ANTUM Photovoltaik-Technologie von Q CELLS.

> Dachser Expands its Magdeburg Site. Two buildings will be constructed at the Magdeburg site with a total logistics floor area of around 40,000 square meters: one building is 32,000 square meters in size and the other 8,000. In addition, there will be approximately 1,880 square meters of offices and recreational space.
