A prime example of courage is citec 3D GmbH in Barleben. After the closure of an international technology group, founders Martin Pagel and Peter Böttner ventured a new start at the location in 2024. With highly specialized metal components for the aerospace, energy, and high-tech industries, the young company proves how technological expertise can draw strength from setbacks. 

Innovation is also having a tangible impact in Halberstadt: Acuriant (formerly Nanostone Water) uses its ceramic filters to remove pollutants from water worldwide – from bacteria and pesticides to drug residues. Since its founding, the company has grown from a small team in a garage to over 130 employees, demonstrating how sustainable technology can achieve international relevance.
 
Saxony-Anhalt's strength lies not only in precision at the microscopic level, but also in handling gigantic loads. For over 90 years, Kranbau Köthen GmbH has been developing crane systems that move loads of over 400 tons. Digital assistance systems combine decades of experience with high-tech, enabling both steelworks and shipyards to benefit from maximum efficiency and safety.

From heavyweights to energy storage: The start-up NorcSi from Halle (Saale) is revolutionizing battery technology. Silicon instead of graphite as anode material promises electric vehicles ranges of up to 1,600 kilometers. With its unique nanostructure technology, NorcSi is delivering solutions for the electric mobility of tomorrow and demonstrating that Saxony-Anhalt is also at the forefront of the forward-looking energy industry.
 
Precision, research, and high-tech come together at point electronic: The company develops electronics and software for electron microscopes and enables the analysis of microstructures and semiconductors worldwide. This makes even the smallest structures visible and measurable—another example of the global impact of Saxony-Anhalt's engineering expertise.

And innovation is not only evident in industry and laboratories, but also in creative spaces: Dessau-based start-up PXNEL transforms walls into multifunctional surfaces that can be used flexibly for living, working, and commercial purposes. Design, modularity, and smart plug-in systems demonstrate that creative solutions and technical intelligence go hand in hand here.
 
Saxony-Anhalt is thus proving itself to be a federal state where tradition meets the future: here, industry, high-tech, research, and creativity come together and show that innovation is not just an idea, but a living reality.
