New network for sustainability supports business and presents itself on new homepage

"Sustainability is more than climate protection!"

New contact point for Saxony-Anhalt's economy: The recently launched network "Sustainability in Business" now presents itself with a new website. The homepage www.nachhaltig-wirtschaften-mitteldeutschland.de was created with the support of the Landesenergieagentur Sachsen-Anhalt GmbH (LENA) as a member of the network's core team.

"Among other things, we use successful company examples here to show how innovative business ideas and tangible growth impulses for medium-sized companies in our region have emerged and can emerge from the sustainability trend," explains network spokeswoman Dr. Sophie Kühling. "We also offer an exchange platform with experts on how this can work in practice for specific issues. Sustainability is more than climate protection or energy saving!"

Dr. Sophie Kühling is an innovation officer at the Halle-Dessau Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK). The IHK is one of the network's initiators, along with the Halle (Saale) Chamber of Skilled Crafts, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences and the Halle-based Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems (IMWS).

"With our experience and expertise in the field of energy transition and climate protection in the state, we would like to contribute significantly to supporting the network for sustainability in such a way that small and medium-sized enterprises in our state in particular have a central authority as a contact and point of contact for questions relating to the topic," emphasizes LENA Managing Director Marko Mühlstein. "The common goal must be to conserve resources, to support the preservation of livelihoods for future generations with active climate protection and to move forward in the coming years, especially by increasing energy efficiency. This is what we want to stand up for!" said Mühlstein.

Background:
The United Nations has formulated 17 sustainability goals - so-called Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - which are being incorporated into laws, funding requirements and sustainable financial products worldwide. The multitude of regulations as well as their economic impact is not always obvious and present for companies. The network meetings bring together multipliers from business, science, administration and civil engagement from Central Germany to identify, activate and communicate acceptance and potential for sustainable solutions.
