The university in Halle achieves several top places in the CHE ranking again

The latest CHE university ranking awards the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU ) for its outstanding studying conditions again.

No less than seven subjects achieve top places in the new ranking: chemistry, geography, geo-sciences, medicine, nursing, physics and dentistry. The ranking is published in the “Zeit-Studienführer 2018/19” study guide today.

“Once again our subjects rank in the top group and we can report on this positive news: the excellent rankings show that the university in Halle is a really great place to study,” says the Vice-Chancellor for Structure and Strategic Development Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Auhagen.

The MLU achieves excellent results in the subjects geography, geo-sciences and nursing in the “Contact with professional practice” category. Geography also ranks in the top group in the “Research funds per scientist” category. Chemistry students are very happy with the general studying situation, organisation of studies and teaching of specialist skills. The subject also ranks in the top group in the “Graduation in appropriate time” category, as does Physics. Physics students particularly value the support during studies and the practical laboratory courses. Dentistry students particular appreciate the general studying situation, examinations and organisation of studies for their course. Medicine gets into the top group in the “Support during initial phase of studies” category.

“It’s very pleasing for us that our evidence-based nursing course, a unique project in Germany, is already receiving such a positive rating during its initial phase,” says the Dean of the Medical Faculty Prof. Dr. Michael Dekle. “We are also very proud that we have been able to maintain the rankings for our dentistry study course at the highest level for many years. We have improved the study conditions again with the new dental clinic building.”

The CHE university ranking is the most comprehensive and specific ranking in the German-speaking world. The Centre for Higher Education (CHE) surveys more than 300 universities and universities of applied sciences for this. Along with information on the studies, the teaching and the research, the ranking comprises the students’ opinions on the academic conditions at their university. Each year, a third of the subjects is rated again.
