Goodman secures new logistics space at Star Park in Halle in Germany’s east

The Goodman property group is responding to ongoing high demand for logistics space and properties in eastern Germany, and is ramping up its activities at the Star Park in Halle (Saale). Goodman has secured additional landbank in the industrial estate close to Leipzig and is now offering a logistics site with an area of up to 35,000 sqm. Star Park is familiar territory to Goodman: the developer and manager has already built properties there for Hellmann Worldwide Logistics and eBay.

The Star Park Halle industrial estate boasts an excellent transport infrastructure with a direct connection to the A14 motorway, making it easily accessible for the regional workforce. Since the Park is in the immediate vicinity of Germany’s second-largest cargo airport, Leipzig/Halle, logistics experts describe its location as strategically excellent in Germany-wide comparison.

At the Star Park, Goodmann is offering logistics space of up to 35,000 sqm which can be custom-developed in line with the client’s requirements. The existing property features integrated office space and, owing to its size and layout, would be ideal for logistics and warehousing, the processing industry or retail. As the owner and manager of logistics properties, Goodman sets great store by the sustainability of the buildings it develops. Standard measures include high-end facade and roof insulation, the use of efficient building heating and the installation of state-of-the-art LED lighting. These and other measures result in the highest eco-balance ratings, for example with regard to CO2 emissions.

Attractive east

Goodman has already been operating at this location for some years. The Group developed a logistics property with an area of some 28,000 sqm for eBay Enterprise in 2015. In 2016 Goodman announced the completion of a 22,000 sqm logistics centre for Hellmann Worldwide Logistics. With this additional space at Star Park, Goodman meanwhile has over 400,000 sqm of modern space under management in one of Germany’s most important logistics regions.

Generally speaking, logistics space in the eastern federal states remains attractive to the property developer and its clients because three core corridors for multimodal international goods transport, whose development is a priority for the EU, run through them. “In recent years, eastern Germany has become increasingly interesting for the logistics industry,” explains Christof Prange, Head of Business Development with Goodman Germany. “Goodman’s focus is on the entire area around Berlin, the Halle-Leipzig region and central Thuringia. We can offer space in a strategically good location that we develop to suit the individual client’s needs.”
