The c. four million euro investment is to cover the following: a processing plant consisting of a hopper with discharge chutes and various other feed systems, parallel flow dryers, filters, belt conveyors, bucket elevators, dust extraction systems (cyclones and fabric filters), drum magnetic separators and magnetic separator belts and chutes; offices and staff areas; storage rooms, and warehouses. Once the new building is completed, the total hall area available will be around 6,000 cubic metres. Around 40,000 tonnes of material are to be processed annually.
The plans are for two-shift day operation (6.00 am to 10.00 pm) in the processing plant including loading and unloading from 7.00 am to 5.00 pm, and standard office hours of 7.00 am to 5.00 pm in the offices and administrative department. 15 members of staff had already been appointed by 9 July, and a further 10 to 15 are soon to follow. Part of the investment was the acquisition of the c. 1.8 ha site in Ballenstedt. Civil engineering work was carried out by a local engineering company, Stratie from Blankenburg, and the halls were constructed by Hallenbau Koch from Thuringia.
The new Kuhmichel Recycling GmbH site was supported by Investment and Marketing Corporation Saxony-Anhalt - The Economic Development Agency of the German Federal State of Saxony-Anhalt, which had proposed sites and facilities and assisted us in the construction planning and approval process. We would also like to thank the district authority of Harz and the mayor of the Town of Ballenstedt, Dr Michael Knoppik, for their great support. They enable investors to set up and develop business in the Harz region without bureaucratic hurdles.
