Dachser Expands its Magdeburg Site

Logistics real estate: New construction project for Dachser

Panattoni is building a new logistics center for Dachser in Magdeburg.

Panattoni has recently announced that it is constructing a new facility for the logistics service provider Dachser. This is the sixth project that the real estate company has implemented on Dachser’s behalf. The most recent construction project, according to Panattoni, was a logistics center in Alsdorf near Aachen that was completed in the summer of 2019. Panattoni began the groundwork in Magdeburg in April 2020 and the center is scheduled to be handed over to Dachser in December 2020.

Two buildings

Two buildings will be constructed at the Magdeburg site with a total logistics floor area of around 40,000 square meters: one building is 32,000 square meters in size and the other 8,000. In addition, there will be approximately 1,880 square meters of offices and recreational space. According to the real estate developer, the usable height of the buildings will be 12.2 meters and after completion they will have a total of 64 gates for unloading, loading and reloading goods. Dachser intends to use its new center to store and distribute products for home improvement stores.

Sustainable construction

The logistics center will be built in accordance with the requirements of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) gold certificate to ensure that it is resource-efficient and sustainable. In addition, energy-saving LED lighting will be fitted in the logistics areas, the offices and the outdoor spaces. The logistics center is being constructed in the Gewerbegebiet Nord, an industrial zone to the north of Magdeburg, and will have good access to the A 2 and A 14 federal freeways.

“For the new project in Magdeburg, we needed a reliable partner who would develop individual solutions to meet our specific requirements. We have placed our trust in Panattoni on several previous occasions. Because of our positive experiences, we are once again looking forward to a productive collaboration,” explains Thomas Hörmann, Head of Construction and Real Estate at Dachser.

User-specific development

“As a result of our wide-ranging experience and extensive expertise, we are fully familiar with the challenges involved in developing premises for a specific customer. We have successfully implemented a variety of projects on several sites for Dachser in the past. We are all the more pleased when a long-term partner of this kind keeps returning to us,” says Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner of Panattoni.
