Under the motto "Energizing a Sustainable Industry", 4,000 exhibitors at this year's Hannover Messe want to show what a competitive and sustainable industry in Europe could look like in the future. In particular, green hydrogen, climate-friendly production and artificial intelligence (AI) are the focus of the world's most important industrial show. Numerous exhibitors from Saxony-Anhalt are right in the middle of it all. On Monday, Science and Energy Minister Prof. Dr. Armin Willingmann visited the stands of companies, universities and research institutions from Saxony-Anhalt.
"This year's Hannover Messe impressively demonstrates the innovative ideas and solutions for building a competitive, climate-neutral economy," explained Willingmann. "Saxony-Anhalt already has a lot to offer in this area. The state is represented at the trade fair with several ambitious projects, such as the Zerbst Energy Park and the Staßfurt Energy Region, which focus on renewable energies and green hydrogen. In addition, companies such as Getec, Tesvolt, Hanwha Qcells, Horiba FuelCon and Solar Materials are demonstrating how much entrepreneurial expertise in this future-oriented field is already available in our state."
During his visit to the trade fair, the Energy Minister made it clear that the state government would continue to consistently drive forward the development of a climate-neutral economy. "With the newly launched 'Saxony-Anhalt ENERGY' program, we are providing 42 million euros to support corporate investments in energy efficiency measures and the use of renewable energies. In addition, we are making 115 million euros available for investments by private and public companies in the intelligent coupling of the electricity, gas and heat energy sectors through the 'Saxony-Anhalt ZUKUINFTSENERGIEN' program," explained Willingmann. "These are important steps for the successful and sustainable development of our country's economy."
Universities and research institutions from Saxony-Anhalt are also well represented at the trade fair. Among other things, Willingmann visited the joint stand "Research for the Future". The University of Magdeburg presented current projects in the field of artificial intelligence as well as the newly introduced Bachelor's degree course in AI engineering. The Minister of Science also learned about current research projects at Harz University of Applied Sciences, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences and Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences. "Our universities and research institutions are close to the challenges of our time with their research focuses and offer attractive training opportunities for the specialists of tomorrow with courses such as AI engineering," said Willingmann.
