IBU-tec advanced materials AG celebrated the topping-out ceremony for a new production facility for LFP cathode material today at the Bitterfeld-Wolfen Chemical Park in the presence of Minister President Sven Schulze.
“The investment in Bitterfeld-Wolfen sends a strong signal for our industrial location. We are bringing key parts of battery production back to Europe, thereby becoming less dependent on other global markets. This is sound, forward-looking economic policy. Batteries are crucial for electric mobility and the energy transition—and thus for growth and secure jobs. Saxony-Anhalt offers reliable conditions for this. We ensure that companies can invest here: with planning security, competitive energy prices, and a strong local industry,” said Minister President Sven Schulze in Bitterfeld-Wolfen.
Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) is a key cathode material for lithium-ion batteries and is used in particular in electric mobility and stationary energy storage systems. Production has so far taken place almost exclusively in China. The construction of the plant in Saxony-Anhalt will contribute to strengthening European supply chains and technological independence.
