Lithium-ion batteries based on LFP battery material are safe, durable, and do not require rare or expensive raw materials such as cobalt or nickel. This makes them not only more cost-effective but also more sustainable to manufacture. Due to these properties, LFP battery material is becoming increasingly important, particularly in electric vehicles and stationary energy storage systems, not least for the energy transition. IBU-tec advanced materials AG is a leading supplier of LFP battery material in Europe and is building an LFP cathode material production facility with an annual capacity of 15,000 tons at the Bitterfeld-Wolfen Chemical Park, for which a topping-out ceremony is being held.
The plant will serve as a key component for European battery value creation and the further expansion of Saxony-Anhalt as an industrial hub. The production of LFP cathode material forms a central foundation for the next generation of high-performance and sustainable battery cells.
Sven Schulze, Minister President of Saxony-Anhalt, is expected to attend the event.
We cordially invite you to cover this important milestone for battery technology and Saxony-Anhalt as an industrial hub.
