Prime Minister Sven Schulze Presents Grant Notices to Infra-Zeitz

Prime Minister Sven Schulze today presented Infra-Zeitz Servicegesellschaft mbH with two grant awards totaling millions for key infrastructure and transformation projects. The first grant notification, for approximately 9.4 million euros from the GRW special program “Transformation of Refinery Sites,” is intended to revitalize an approximately 15-hectare area of the CIP Zeitz site. The second grant notification, for approximately 8.7 million euros, is financed by federal and state funds under the Coal Regions Investment Act and supports the subproject “Expansion of the Supply Infrastructure.”

Prime Minister Sven Schulze: “Structural change is a major challenge—and at the same time an opportunity for Saxony-Anhalt. It is important to me that people know: They can count on us as a state to do everything in our power to manage this transition effectively. We are investing in the foundations for tomorrow’s jobs and economic growth, and with the Zeitz Chemical and Industrial Park, we are creating new opportunities right here in the region. One thing is clear: People can be confident that their home will remain a wonderful place to live and love—with good opportunities for them and their families.”

Thanks to GRW funding, the existing site can be decontaminated, including deep debris removal and, where necessary, explosive ordnance disposal. The sites will then be connected to a modern, state-of-the-art infrastructure.

The structural transformation project “Expansion of the Utility Infrastructure” is one of a total of eight subprojects aimed at the “Sustainable Preservation and Innovative Expansion of the Zeitz Chemical and Industrial Park.” It aims to systematically develop the regional circular economy, attract sustainable chemical companies, and create new employment opportunities.
