Leuna. During the summit meeting of the state premiers of Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony, and Thuringia, State Premier Sven Schulze presented the city of Leuna with a grant notification in the amount of approximately
11 million euros. Using funds from the Coal Regions Investment Act, a new research and development site is being developed in the immediate vicinity of the Leuna Chemical Park. The approximately 15,200-square-meter site will be fully developed and will provide space for new research and technology companies.
The presentation of the grant notification was part of the Structural Change Summit attended by Minister Presidents Sven Schulze, Michael Kretschmer (Saxony), and Mario Voigt (Thuringia), who visited the Central German Mining Region to learn about projects that are driving the transformation of former coal-mining regions into modern centers of business, research, and innovation.
