Frankfurt am Main, June 19, 2026 – The Merz Group officially inaugurated a new packaging line at its Dessau-Roßlau site in the presence of Saxony-Anhalt’s Minister President Sven Schulze, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Affairs Stefanie Pötzsch, and the Mayor of Dessau-Roßlau, Dr. Robert Reck.
The facility is part of a comprehensive expansion through which Merz is increasing its production, packaging, and logistics capacities at the site. With investments totaling more than 100 million euros through 2028, Merz is developing Dessau into a central production hub for the global supply of aesthetic and therapeutic neurotoxin products.
During the event, guests from the political and business communities gained insight into the site through factory tours. A subsequent panel discussion focused on the prospects for Saxony-Anhalt as an industrial location and the importance of long-term investments in Germany.
The expansion in Dessau is part of a strategic development of the site: By consolidating key processes, an integrated value chain is being created—from the manufacture of active ingredients to packaging. This reduces logistical complexity and enhances efficiency and supply reliability. This move is driven by the growing global demand for neurotoxin products, particularly in international markets.
Afterward, Merz celebrated the expansion and the successful development of the site with a summer festival for employees, their families, and invited partner companies.

About the Dessau Site
The Dessau-Roßlau site is a key production facility for the Merz Group’s neurotoxin products and employs approximately 450 people. Merz has been manufacturing here since 2005. At the Biopharmapark, the company consolidates key parts of the value chain—from active ingredient manufacturing to further processing and packaging.
