Kick-off for eighth "Culinary Saxony-Anhalt" competition / Winners can look forward to the state's "Culinary Star"

The application phase has begun: From now on, companies in the agricultural and food industry can pave the way for their outstanding food products to become the talk of the town and enter the "Culinary Saxony-Anhalt 2024" competition. Just in time for the start of the "Green Week" food fair in Berlin, the hunt is on for the most popular prize in the local industry: the "Culinary Star". The closing date for entries is February 16, 2024.

Its golden shimmer attracts attention on the shop shelf: if a food product from Saxony-Anhalt bears the "Culinary Star" label, customers are guaranteed to be curious. This is because not only regional producers, but also consumers have long been aware of the award. The award, presented by a jury of experts, ultimately guarantees the best quality and a real treat for the palate. In short: a purchase that delivers what it promises.

In its eighth year, the culinary competition will once again be judging a wide range of local delicacies in various categories, from bread and delicatessen products to dairy products and spirits. An expert jury assesses quality and taste. But inventiveness and innovation are also part of the criteria. The winners can look forward to bright prospects with the star award.

Minister President Dr. Reiner Haseloff, who has been a patron for many years, is delighted with the quality of the entries: "This competition has an amazing number of facets. It is both a platform for professional, sometimes centuries-old craftsmanship and a stage for innovative ideas for the future in the food industry. It constantly surprises with new preparation methods, ingredients or forms of presentation. This is a great opportunity for all participants and a pleasure for me as patron."

Minister of Agriculture Sven Schulze, whose office sponsors the competition, emphasizes the importance of the industry: "Behind every single product judged by the jury is the commitment of people who put their heart and soul into producing top-quality food. Our region is rich in agricultural diversity, for which our farmers deserve our highest recognition. This competition not only honors individual winning products, but also our regional food producers."

The competition is open to all companies in the agricultural and food industry with their own processing and direct marketing, right through to companies with industrial production. Micro-enterprises and young start-ups, which have often enriched the competition for the best products in the past, are also expressly invited to take part.

The application phase runs until February 16, 2024. Interested parties can find detailed information and the application form on the website https://kulinarische-sterne.sachsen-anhalt.de/
