Arvid Friebe takes over the management of BioEconomy e. V.

At its last meeting in December 2023, the board of BioEconomy e. V. appointed management consultant Arvid Friebe to head the office of the Central German industry association. Friebe's primary task will be to prepare the renowned "Bioeconomy Conference" in June 2024, expand the association's portfolio of services and attract new members. Friebe will manage the business on a part-time basis as interim manager. BioEconomy e. V. represents the interests of the emerging bioeconomy industry and associated research institutions, primarily in the federal states of Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony and Thuringia. The association currently has 48 members, including CropEnergies Biobased Chemicals, the Fraunhofer Institute IWES, UPM Biochemicals and Zellstoffwerk Stendal, which are currently making major investments in sustainable chemistry at the Leuna, Rosenthal and Zeitz sites.

About the BioEconomy e. V.: The association was founded in 2012 with the aim of making Central Germany an international model region for the bioeconomy. In 2012, the association won the so-called Leading-Edge Cluster Competition of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, which made it possible to support bioeconomy research and development projects in Saxony-Anhalt with around 40 million euros. The association currently has 48 members. The association is based in Leuna. The chairman of the board is Dr. Joachim Schulze; he is managing partner of the biotechnology engineering company "BioConsulting GmbH".
