The town of Gardelegen is located in the Altmark district of Salzwedel, north of Magdeburg, in Saxony-Anhalt. Gardelegen is located on a plateau in the Milde valley in the north-west of Saxony-Anhalt, at an altitude of around 30 to 100 meters. Located at the confluence of the Milde and Laugebach rivers, the Altmark town of Gardelegen is nestled between hilly terminal moraine landscape and river valleys in the north and extensive, beautiful heathland in the south. The B 71 from Magdeburg or Uelzen and the B 188 from Stendal or Wolfsburg lead to Gardelegen, which means that Gardelegen not only has good north-south connections, but also good east-west connections. The nearest highway access is approx. 50 km away at Magdeburg (Ebendorf) or Wolfsburg.
