Success stories

Machine parts from the Altmark in use worldwide
Housing construction in Dubai, waste incineration in China, power plant technology in Greece - AMS Arneburger Maschinen- und Stahlbau GmbH in northern Saxony-Anhalt supplies components, special machinery and plant technology for use on construction sites and in ports, power plants and the coal and steel industry. With a very high level of vertical integration, from cutting to size to steel construction, coating, mechanical processing on drilling and milling centers and assembly of the components manufactured or provided by the customer, AMS is able to offer complex services for customers from a single source. From the Arneburg site, AMS ships the finished products either to the customer for further completion or as ready-to-install system components to the respective destination worldwide.
A crazy procedure
When Matthias Bommert, Managing Director of IST Automation GmbH, talks about the beginnings of IST Automation in Leuna and its current projects, his eyes light up. "I was already working with colleagues as a programmer for a Swiss company during my studies," he says. It is the know-how of the small company with six employees that makes it special. IST Automation is, in the best sense of the word, an interface between the large-scale industrial plant, commissioning and subsequent smooth operation. "When a manufacturer has set up its plant somewhere in the world, it is not enough to press a button to ensure that everything runs smoothly," explains the Managing Director. Measured values must be continuously recorded and monitored, limit values determined and processes triggered if they are exceeded. "What makes us special is that we are familiar with plants and systems from many manufacturers. There is hardly a controller, switch or display that we haven't already had in our hands and installed in our systems."

Hobbyhorse: Transferring technology innovations to other industries
"The company name, PHM, stands for planning, manufacturing and assembling precise, complex components and assemblies," says PHM Managing Director Tino Lerche. Together with his sister, he took over the company from their father Joachim two years ago. As a mechanical engineer, he founded the family business in 1992. In 2016, his children took over the management and power of attorney after successfully completing their engineering training. "Our trademark is the product from a single source," says Tino Lerche. The medium-sized company focuses on making modern, innovative ideas usable in a variety of ways across all sectors - from plant and mechanical engineering, the rolling mill and metallurgical industry, energy and environmental technology to rail vehicle construction. As a system supplier, PHM has delivered high-quality components and assemblies for Carl Zeiss Jena, Deutsche Bahn, the SMS Group and TAKRAF GmbH, among others.
