Re-refining: used oil becomes crystal-clear base oil

PURAGLOBE is a US group of companies in the field of basic chemicals and produces new lubricants from recycled engine oil in Saxony-Anhalt and halves carbon dioxide emissions compared to base oil production from crude oil. At the future-oriented Zeitz Chemical and Industrial Park in the south of Saxony-Anhalt, it produces pure API Group III base oils from recycled waste oils from cars and machine tools, from which new lubricants of the highest quality are created. This makes PURAGLOBE a global pioneer of an innovative future technology for a climate-neutral, global circular economy.

World's first production of innovative storage material

A world first - made in Saxony-Anhalt. Skeleton Materials, founded in 2009, will build the world's first factory for the industrial production of "curved graphene" at the Bitterfeld-Wolfen Chemical Park. The new material enables significantly more powerful energy storage and is also considerably more environmentally friendly to produce than conventional graphite, which currently comes almost exclusively from Chinese refineries.

Lithium hydroxide refinery in Saxony-Anhalt

AMG Lithium has built the first battery-grade lithium hydroxide refinery in the European Union in the future-oriented town and chemical park of Bitterfeld-Wolfen. Lithium hydroxide is used to produce cathode materials, which in turn are used in cells for lithium-ion batteries. The annual capacity of 20,000 tons will make a decisive contribution to the local supply of the European battery industry and significantly support the development of electromobility. The refinery currently under construction is the first of five planned modules at the Bitterfeld-Wolfen site, which will ultimately enable around 100,000 tons of lithium salts to be produced there.
