Park of technology in the park of landscape
A location for research, production and sales: Innovation is the basis for the success of the Ostfalen Technology Park and the companies and research institutes located HERE.
The concept of the business park is already innovative: the commercial areas have been integrated into a landscape park. The Magdeburg Innovation and Start-up Center (IGZ Magdeburg), where start-ups, scientific institutions and medium-sized companies bring product ideas to market maturity, also stands for this. Today, 75 companies with around 450 employees work in the IGZ alone. The Center for Electromobility and Energy Efficiency (ZEE), which opened in 2016 and where companies develop integrated mobility services, also stands for innovation in the technology park.
A total of 140 companies use the ideal location conditions of the business park, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the state capital Magdeburg and next to two highways, for production and logistics.
An "e-mobility campus" is to be developed here in the coming years. The aim is to give suppliers to the automotive industry a tailwind for the structural change towards electromobility. There are also plans to establish a new "Center for Method Development" (CMD) at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. The CMD Magdeburg sets new standards for development methods in drive and vehicle development. Here, up to 50 engineers from various faculties are establishing new virtual development methods and processes for the sustainable mobility of the future across disciplinary boundaries.
The municipality of Barleben has received concept funding from the federal government under the title: "5G - Industrial Working & Co-Working for SMEs" . The concept, which is now being created with the help of the funding, is intended to form the basis for the development of a localized, industrially used 5G environment - a 5G test field for medium-sized industrial companies. The "Project 5G" is a building block for making Barleben a sustainable and innovative business location. The companies located here are to be given the opportunity to use the digital transformation in the economy and society as a competitive advantage for themselves.
