Center for Innovation and Knowledge Transfer
Magdeburg's Port of Science is an example of the successful transformation of historic sites into modern, future-oriented districts. The site of the former trading port, which was built on the Elbe at the end of the 19th century, is now developing into an urban center for science, business and innovation - as well as an area for housing, services, leisure and tourism.
The historic harbor warehouses are being filled with new life: research institutions and knowledge-based companies have settled under the roof of the "Denkfabrik". A former sugar warehouse has been converted into the STIMULATE research campus - a center for interdisciplinary medical technology. New settlements of science-related companies and institutions are also being established around the old basin of the former Hansehafen. Research findings from science are quickly transferred to the regional economy thanks to the close proximity to start-ups and spin-offs. At the same time, targeted offers bring innovations and medical technology solutions directly into society.
