Chemical region Bitterfeld-Wolfen: Launch of 125-year anniversary

Under the theme “We live chemistry”, celebrations will take place throughout the anniversary year with a colourful programme of events.

The Bitterfeld-Wolfen chemical region will host a diverse programme in 2018 to celebrate a special anniversary: 125 years ago, at almost the same time, two chemical firms, Elektronische Werke GmbH zu Berlin and Chemische Fabrik Elektron AG, decided to invest in Bitterfeld.

“Today, after 125 years, the chemical park presents itself as a strong network of highly efficient producing companies with a very modern infrastructure and a variety of service companies in an innovative environment,” stressed Dr Michael Polk, managing director of Chemiepark Bitterfeld-Wolfen GmbH, at the press conference to launch the anniversary on Wednesday morning.

The companies of the chemical location are preparing numerous events in the anniversary year with the local partners. One of the highlights will be the Festival Week from 4 to 10 June. Guests from politics, business and science from throughout Germany as well as other countries are expected at the ceremony on 7 June.

The 60-minute film One Day in 125 Years will have its première in the festival week and will be shown in a suitable setting in the film hall of Wolfen Industry and Film Museum.
