Saxony-Anhalt at the Hannover Trade Fair 2012

Prof. Dr. Birgitta Wolff, Minister of Science and Economic Affairs of the State of Saxony-Anhalt on the presentation from the Saxony-Anhalt business delegation at the Hannover Trade Fair: “‘Greentelligence', the key theme at this year's Hannover Trade Fair, couldn't have been a better choice, as it reflects the increasing importance of sustainability and efficiency in industrial production in achieving competitiveness in the international markets. The requirements in this context are innovations which the state government works hard to support. For our companies, universities and research organisations, Hannover offers the opportunity to present your innovative products and procedures and therefore gain access to the international markets. At the same time, as a state, we also gain the opportunity to present ourselves as a location oriented to innovation and sustainability, and thereby communicate the strengths of the state even better. Let us make use of this opportunity."

The state is presenting itself over more than 230 m2 at a combined stand in hall 4, stand G05. Under the management of the investment and marketing corporation Saxony-Anhalt (the economic development agency of the German federal state of Saxony-Anhalt), 29 exhibitors are presenting their products and services in the scope of the leading 'Industrial Supply' exhibition.

The presentation at the Hannover Trade Fair with its different components pursues the goal of giving small and medium sized companies from Saxony-Anhalt access to national and international markets at home and abroad and therefore strengthening the economic validity of the companies through generation of turnover. The goal of making the state of Saxony-Anhalt attractive and well known to potential investors from abroad, and highlighting it as a location for investment, especially by focusing on the Chinese market, is also being pursued. This should also be attained by highlighting the close links between the science and business worlds as a key local factor.

With an updated concept, in 2012 there won't just be the combined stand, but communications with companies outside the state of Saxony-Anhalt will also take centre stage. Among others, this will be supported through the participation in the 'Investment Lounge' in the context of the Global Business & Markets, in the participation in the sector-spanning 'Suppliers Convention' forum for presentations and discussions, as well as the Technology Tours, on which interested guests are shown product innovations and exhibits on the topic of mechanical engineering. There will also be a local presentation for potential Chinese investors.

In addition to this, this year again, universities and research organisations will be presenting their innovative ideas on the research stand for Central Germany, 'Research for the future', in hall 02, stand C37. This year, the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg is represented at the trade fair with six research projects, including the TEPROSA technology platform for the production of miniature sensors. "The Hannover Trade Fair is an absolute must for a university that has a technical focus! I am sure that the six projects of the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg will attract considerable interest," explains Prof. Dr. Klaus Erich Pollmann, Principal of the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg discussing the university's trade fair appearance on the research stand for Central Germany. Anhalt University of Applied Science will be appearing at the trade fair with two research projects: 'Welding gun compensation using XC-concept with resistance spot welding' and 'HYBRID CASES' - a packaging concept for musical instruments. With projects such as 'Bio-materials for product applications' or the 'Competence network for applied and transfer oriented research (KAT)', Merseburg and Magdeburg-Stendal (FH) universities are also attending the research stand.
