Ground-breaking ceremony for new building in Farnstädt / 2.6 million euros invested

Starting shot for expansion: in the presence of State Secretary Dr. Jürgen Ude , the official ground-breaking ceremony for the expansion of the company Schmitz Fire & Rescue GmbH took place today in Farnstädt (Saale District). The company has approximately 30 employees and specialises in the production and maintenance of fire-fighting vehicles and systems. The medium-sized business is investing roughly 2.6 million euros in its expansion. A second production hall with office space and a service centre is to be built. The new building, which has an area of approximately 1,400 m², will provide additional jobs in production and administration.

Schmitz Fire & Rescue GmbH is part of Hermann Schmitz GmbH and has three locations: in addition to its headquarters in Farnstädt, it also has production facilities in Luckenwalde (Brandenburg) and Shanghai (China).

Ude said: "This expansion is great news for the start of the year. Saxony-Anhalt is thriving precisely because of its strong small and medium sized businesses. It is all the more important for our businesses to want to take advantage of the future opportunities and invest strongly so as to stay competitive. RAYDIAX secures €3.5 million in fresh capital to develop its therapy assistance computed tomography system in the fight against cancer

RAYDIAX, a spin-off of the STIMULATE research campus/ Otto-vonGuericke-University Magdeburg, is developing an image assistance system based on the principles of computed tomography for use in minimally invasive cancer treatments. The company secures €3.5 million in fresh capital to advance the development of the preclinical prototype and prepare for market entry in Europe and the USA. A seed round of €2.4 million is led by HTGF and bmp Ventures with IBG funds. In addition, RAYDIAX will receive €1.1 million in funding through a top-up of an “EXIST: transfer of research” grant from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
