State Secretary hands over grant decision for just under 780,000 euros

Wünsch: “SME are the foundation of the economy”

Positive message for Schönebeck (Salzlandkreis) in Saxony-Anhalt: The aluminium factory there invests around 2.6 million euros in the construction of a production hall and warehouse and in the procurement of new machines and plants. This expansion is being supported by the region. State Secretary Thomas Wünsch today handed over the grant statement for just under 780,000 euros from the joint task “Improvement of the regional economic structure” (GRW) to owner Mathias Groß.

Wünsch said: “Small and medium-sized companies are the strong foundation of the economy in Saxony-Anhalt. Providing unbureaucratic support to the mid tier is therefore a major focus of our economic policy. Aluminiumwerk Schönebeck has developed positively during the past years. By promoting this most recent investment we want to contribute to the company’s growth and further success.”

Groß said: “Thanks to support from the region, it is possible for us to make important investment in our company, and to secure and create jobs. Because of the strong demand for aluminium special profiles, this extension is an investment in the future of our company. Thanks to the new five-axis CNC profile machining centre, we can now machine aluminium profiles up to a length of 16.3 metres in one piece. The additional production and storage area of just under 1,800m² makes it possible for us to keep appropriate stocks, so that we can react quickly to delivery enquiries. In addition, the area of product development is being expanded. A main focus in this will be the further development of our mobile and stationary flood defence systems, because I am assuming that in future there will be more and more elemental damage due to heavy rainfall events. With our new defence systems we also want to give private households the opportunity to adapt quickly to such events and to protect themselves.”

Aluminiumwerk Schönebeck, founded in 1997, and with a current workforce of eleven, manufactures aluminium profiles, especially for the construction element and furniture industry, mobile and stationary flood protection, and mechanical engineering. Furthermore, the company has specialised in the field of five-axle CNC profile machining. Four new jobs are to be created by the extension.
