Saxony-Anhalt’s municipalities disbursed 13.8 million EUR more for investments

In the first half of the year 2017, the core budgets of the municipalities in the Federal State of Saxony-Anhalt disbursed 191 million EUR for investments. This was 13.8 million EUR more (+ 7.8 %) than in the comparable period of the previous year. Nearly two-thirds of the expenditures were made in the region affiliated with administrative districts. The municipalities affiliated with administrative districts and the associations of municipalities recorded investment expenditures amounting to 121.7 million EUR. The district-free cities in this region disbursed 36.3 million EUR, while the administrative districts disbursed 33 million EUR.

With a total of 176.6 million EUR, 92.5 percent of investment expenditures were made for capital investments in fixed assets. Construction measures constituted the greatest share of capital investments in fixed assets. Expenditures of 146.9 million EUR were made for these construction measures. This was 7.5 million EUR more (+ 5.4 %) than in the period of the previous year. The municipalities paid 22.3 million EUR (+ 3.8 %) for the acquisition of moveable or intangible assets, and 7.4 million EUR (+ 18.3 %) for the acquisition of properties, buildings and infrastructure assets.

The region specified the expenditures for construction measures in the amount of investments. In the first half of the year 2017, one-third of the expenditures for construction measures (49.3 million EUR) were recorded for construction measures in road construction. The district-free cities paid 14 million EUR for road construction. This was nearly half of their entire construction expenditures (48.8 percent). Expenditures amounting to 29.2 million EUR were recorded for municipalities associated with administrative districts and associations of municipalities, while 6.1 million EUR were recorded in the administrative districts.
