Continuous growth
The gross domestic product of Saxony-Anhalt rose by a nominal 165% between 1991 and 2008, making it two-and-a-half times larger than in 1991. The growth in added value per worker was even higher: up 233%. Particularly positive was the growth in the chemicals, mechanical engineering and food industries, and, in the past few years especially, renewable energies.
